Media Advisory: Elon University Emerging Journalists Program

What: N.C. State Representative Ray Jeffers to hold a press conference for students participating in Elon University’s Emerging Journalists Program (EJP).

Hailing from around the country, the 18 high school student journalists in Elon’s EJP will develop their reporting, writing, multimedia storytelling, leadership and media management skills. This news conference is an important part of their learning experience. Students will also visit newsrooms and news broadcast studios to see how news is made and covered. This year’s program began on June 15 and will run through June 26.

Who: All of Elon’s EJP students are expected to attend the press conference. The news media is invited as well.

Why: This press conference will give students a first-hand view of how these events work and how they can interact with important government officials.

When: The press conference will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 10 AM Eastern Time.

Where: In the Legislative Building near the State Capitol at 16 W. Jones St., Raleigh, NC 27601. Nicholas Harris, aide to Rep. Jeffers, will meet the students outside of the Legislative Building prior to the press conference.
